I know, I know, kale is all the rage. But I truly do like kale. And I liked it even more when I learned this speedy prep trick from the always awesome, food stylist extraordinaire, Patty Wittmann. She calls it “the zipper”. I pronounce it more like “the zippppaaaaaaaah”, real theatrical like, because, hey, why not?
This is an easy way to separate the kale stems from their leaves.
Meet “the zipper”….

See? It’s fast.
Just grab a kale leaf and while holding the thicker end of the stem, slide your fingers along the stem to the top of the leaf. That’s it.
Who needs a knife when you can use “”the zippppaaaaaaaah”!
So, prepping kale is super speedy. Who knew?!?
